With its new production lines, the company based in Pomezia, south of Rome, has made its products more secure

pharma-4.0ROME – With the acquisition of an innovative blister packaging machine for a new product line, ITC Farma has added another important manufacturing element that will protect its products and improve their development. This latest generation machinecan produce 240 blister packs per minute, and ensures the traceability and serialization of products, which is one of the main challenges of the supply chain in the foreseeable future of the pharmaceutical industry. It constitutes a technological advance that will provide consumers and especially patients with higher levels of protection and guarantees concerning the authenticity and integrity of products, with data communicated in real time. In fact, the new blister pack machine automatically sends all the data necessary for tracking pharmaceutical products, so that they can be internationally monitored, by means of intelligent data management. Each package is distinguished by a unique Data Matrix code, which contains the serial number, the batch number and the expiry date, making it possible to identify and trace our products, right up to the end user. In addition “tamper-evident technology” is used, so as to create a fool-proof anti-tamper design. Guglielmo Frontini, the plant manager of ITC Farma, points out that “by responding to the increase in requests from the market, we are now able to further increase our production, also with the use of digital innovation. Our vision still entails investing in all those processes that have led to and that constitute the phenomenon known as Pharma 4.0, all the while aiming for an intelligent form of manufacturing with health and the quality of life as its main objective. At the moment – Frontini concludes – we are evaluating the possibility of purchasing another new equipment line, to meet the many demands of a sector in which Italy continues to be an international reference point due to the skills that have been acquired”.
